Paddy Celebrates the Big Five-0

Paddy Celebrates the Big Five-0

I posted this logo in honor of the Wifey (a noted Paddy-fan).

Personally, I would have preferred a Google logo celebrating the arrival of Columbus’s three boats in the Zoo World.  But, we know how good Google is with commemorating special events.

Meanwhile, the typical historical sorrymen don’t lament Google’s selection criteria.

We all love the idea, the ideal of America, but that’s not the same as overtly approving imperial conquest and the annihilation of native cultures. Unfortunately, a celebration of Christopher Columbus, the man, is perforce a celebration of slave-running and the violent imposition of Catholicism on an unwilling populace.

You know how much the Mrs. loves me?

She surprised me with this when I came home from an emergency work call yesterday:

Now I can watch my Gooners at home for the first time — no more having to follow the games on ‘net feeds or trekking out to the pub (though I’m sure I’ll have to do both at times).

Being across the pond, the game is during the worship hour.

Thankfully, Big Guy doesn’t mind if we worship at St. Mattress now and then (at least I hope/think He doesn’t.

More important than my wife’s gift of FSC and Goonerdom in mi casa is His gift:

And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — not by works, so that no one can boast.
