Quote of the night:

“I’m not running for president because I think I’m blessed with such personal greatness that history has anointed me to save our country in its hour of need. My country saved me. My country saved me, and I cannot forget it. And I will fight for her for as long as I draw breath, so help me God.”

never visited here before, I just googled “blessed with such personal greatness” to see what else was being said about what I also saw as the quote of the speech… but probably for a completely different reason. The first half was by far the worst example of bitter condescencion I had heard from either convention. It’s a tactless personal attack, the only way Obama could equal the pompous rudeness of the statement would be to claim McCain exploits his military experience for personal gain. Neither statement is true, both stoop to the lowest insulting behavior- the difference is that Obama wouldn’t do that. Time and again he has said he respects McCain’s motives. Obama even relents from attacking McCains character, even though statements like that infer that he is a bitter, angry, envious man.
